Designing Roundabout Monument and Traffic Police Station - Bahnemir

Roundabout Monument

Located at the heart of Bahnemir’s coastal town of Bahnemir, the city square has long served as a central node in the urban experience of its residents. Given its symbolic and spatial significance, the design of a new urban landmark was undertaken with the aim of reinforcing a sense of belonging, enhancing environmental quality, and creating a lasting visual anchor within the cityscape.

The proposed structure features vertical and curved elements inspired by the region’s natural context and the dynamic spirit of its people. The composition simultaneously evokes stability and movement. The open space between the structural components invites social interaction and moments of pause within the everyday urban flow. Raw and durable materials—such as exposed concrete—were deliberately selected to ensure both longevity and visual harmony with the surrounding environment.

The result is a landmark that not only enriches the aesthetic character of the square but also contributes to the collective identity of Bahnemir. With its contemporary yet rooted expression, the installation stands as a symbol of the intersection between art, function, and culture—
strengthening the city’s visual narrative and its place in the memory of its inhabitants.

Traffic Police Station

The traffic police station, positioned around a central roundabout, forms part of the city’s traffic management and public service infrastructure. Designed with architectural intent, this compact yet impactful structure plays a vital role in regulating vehicular flow and fostering a sense of safety and order within the urban environment.

Its form—featuring three vertical segments and arched windows—blends modern simplicity with classical references. The generous openings allow for natural light and facilitate visual interaction between traffic officers and pedestrians. The presence of greenery near the windows adds a touch of vitality and reinforces a subtle connection to nature within this functional space.

This design exemplifies the integration of utility and aesthetics at a micro-urban scale, showing how service-oriented elements like a traffic police kiosk can enhance the civic experience and reinforce the identity of place. Today, the kiosk stands not only as a point of traffic regulation but also as a refined and humanized feature of the city’s roundabout landscape.
